A large agricultural farm just in the middle of a nature reserve called „Spreewald“, about 100 km south of Berlin. No objection, as it is proved by the agricultural cooperative Radensdorf. Since 2001 the cooperative is an acknowledged ecological farm and member of the registered society “BIOPARK”. More than 4000 ha are tilled according to bionomic guidelines. One example: Chemical plant protection is strictly forbidden. Grassland is used extensive, meaning that all compound fertilizers are abandoned. More than 600 dairy cows get feed which is produced by the cooperative itself. Nearly all cows are bedded with straw. Milk yield is more than 7000 kg per cow and year.
5 Schäffer loaders are playing an important role on the farm. Recently a telescopic loader 930 T was bought, the oldest machine is a 442 S. Main task of the loaders are the handling of crap, feed and bales, the bedding of straw and loading of diet feeders. The average amount of working hours is between 1000 and 2000 per machine and year.
Hans Lehmann is senior manager of field work and workshop. He judges like that: „The first Schäffer loader 442 was delivered in 1995. Since then the machine is in work daily and has got now without any problems more than 21000 hours done. In 1996 we bought a telescopic loader 870 T. This machine did work 19500 hours until today and is still also in use every day. Those impressive high numbers of working hours give proof of the outstanding reliability of all Schäffer loaders. The Kubota engines are running very well and economical. Lifting and pushing power of the compact machines are enormous. A wide range of working tools makes the loaders even more versatile. There are few tasks only a Schäffer can not cope with“.
The cooperative has been very successful in the recent years and was able to expand the dairy business a lot. The number of Schäffer loaders was increased together with the number of dairy cows.
„Maintenance is very easy with a Schäffer. After using them for more than 12 years we know the Schäffer loaders very well. Our experience pays off in lower costs“, Mr Lehmann adds.
The agricultural cooperative in Radensdorf is a good example that ecology and economy can fit together very well. And all this is done with the help of Schäffer loaders, at 365 days a year.
